  "Lotus Babies" Yoga
Taught by Lori Allen, $12 for the first infant in the family, then $6 for each additional infant to crawling stage. Offered every other Saturday from 12:15 to 12:55. (check calendar section). Eligible babies are from birth up to the crawling stage.

Mom’s and Dad’s are welcome with their little one(s) – you will actually be working with your child. Lori Allen, a sweet vibrant young, but experienced, children’s yoga teacher, will be instructing. Please spread the word. If you are interested in attending, or know of someone who would be, let me know.

Lotus Babies will teach parents and caregivers a series of hatha inspired yoga poses that will aid in digestion, sleep and overall health of their babies. It is an hour set aside for bonding with your child and appreciating the gift that has been given to you. It is an opportunity to meet like minded parents in your community and offer support to one another through discussion and sharing. We move at a slow pace and enjoy the present moment.

FYI - We understand 40 minutes is a long time in a babies life so it is normal for them to eat, sleep and/or have a diaper change during our class time together. This is a welcomed part of the class. The important thing is you will be learning poses to do with your baby at home and you are there with them for this special time.

Gentle Kundalini Yoga (for stress reduction via Movement & Philosophy)
Yoga is much more than just exercise. It is an ancient practice that teaches an awareness of the mind, the body, and the soul through movement and philosophy. Yoga is a way of moving that has positive effects on all the body's systems. It is also a way of thinking and acting in response to life's blessings and challenges. All movement requires tension, but stress occurs when the muscular or mental tension cannot return to a relaxed state. This then disrupts other body mechanisms. Also, we store much emotional trauma in our muscles. The more we harbor this energy internally, the more stressed we become. This class will teach you how to "relax" the body, mind, and spirit through yoga movement and philosophy. This is a very good class if you are Anxious or Depressed. Depression is a debilitating malady hampering the zest for life. Learn and practice therapeutic yoga as a means of self-care in achieving emotional balance. While yoga doesn’t take the place of medical care, consistent yoga practice, consisting of specific movement and breathwork, can combat the blues and help you to regain your potential for joy.

  Restorative Hatha Yoga
This yoga has a more spiritual focus -- one that helps the world-weary practitioner to "stop and smell the roses". Through a combination of breathing and flowing Ashtanga Yoga movements, the body will become relaxed and the spirit renewed. (all levels)

Sundays, 11:00 - 12:30
Instructor: Christopher Williams

In 2003, at the age of 56 and after 35 plus years in sales and marketing, Chris was facing several health issues, including weighing almost 240 lbs, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, and the looming presence of being diabetic. Deciding to get serious about his health, Chris adopted a very strict low carbohydrate diet, along with a physical routine of yoga and free weight training to regain lost strength and flexibility. "Although the diet helped me lose the 80 plus pounds, it was yoga that gave me the discipline to make and keep the necessary life changes that I continue each day."

Chris "retired" from the business world in 2007 to pursue his studies of yoga with the intent of teaching. He received his RYT 200 in October of 2007 in Integral Hatha with Jeannie Laslow, and has continued his studies and practice with Sri Ekan and Nirgunavathi Ananda, both Anusarists. Chris also studied with John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga, and completed the Karma Kids Yoga of NYC teacher training course. "I would also like to thank Tymi Howard, Lisa Wulf, Alyssa Kaplan, Debbie Collingwood, Dana Jennings, Audra Miele, and Leis Rothlein, all enlightened teachers. My gratitude to Rodney Yee and his DVD's for my early efforts to teach myself. I am also particularly indebted to my son, Nathan, who first suggested that I take up yoga for its physical benefits, and that what I would ultimately discover is that its mental and spiritual qualities are much more profound".

Chris currently teaches Hatha Yoga, with a particular interest towards seniors, beginners, kids, and those with health limitations. He enjoys the opportunity to introduce those familiar with only the asanas (physical postures) to two other limbs of yoga - breath and meditation.

Classes Taught: Saturdays, Power Hatha Yoga, and Sundays, Restorative Hatha Yoga

  Stretching & Breathing Yoga
The breath is our life force. It carries nutrients into our body and removes toxins. Mastery of the breath is a foundation for: promoting health and vitality; opening the range and creativity of the emotions; controlling the moods; developing concentration; and promoting a feeling of connectedness to the body. When we control the breathing using different breath techniques, in conjunction with increasing the body's flexibility through gentle yoga movements, we benefit from the resulting physical and emotional well-being.
