Yoga is much more than just exercise. It is an ancient practice that teaches an awareness of the mind, the body, and the soul through movement and philosophy. Yoga is a way of moving that has positive effects on all the body's systems. It is also a way of thinking and acting in response to life's blessings and challenges. All movement requires tension, but stress occurs when the muscular or mental tension cannot return to a relaxed state. This then disrupts other body mechanisms. Also, we store much emotional trauma in our muscles. The more we harbor this energy internally, the more stressed we become. This class will teach you how to "relax" the body, mind, and spirit through yoga movement and philosophy. This is a very good class if you are Anxious or Depressed. Depression is a debilitating malady hampering the zest for life. Learn and practice therapeutic yoga as a means of self-care in achieving emotional balance. While yoga doesn’t take the place of medical care, consistent yoga practice, consisting of specific movement and breathwork, can combat the blues and help you to regain your potential for joy.
